Skate Park

Due to recent issues, the Darien Park District has temporarily closed the Darien Park District Skate Park, located at 451 Plainfield Road. No trespassing signs have been installed, and violators will be prosecuted.
The Park District Board will be voting at the next board meeting regarding the future of the Darien Park District Skate Park. The Skate Park has been the site of numerous problems over the past year. These problems include: vandalism, drug arrests, bike use, and trespassing. The Board discussed these problems in detail with the Darien Police Department at the August 24th committee meeting. The Board will be voting on September 14th to close and remove the park permanently.
The September 14th board meeting will be held at Darien City Hall, 1702 Plainfield Road, at 7:00pm.
The Darien Park District Skatepark is located at 451 Plainfield Rd on the grounds of the Darien Sportsplex.
The operating hours (weather permitting) are:
Daily: 9:00 am - 8:00 pm or dusk March 1 - August 31
9:00 - 7:00 pm or dusk September 1-30
9:00 - 4:00 pm or dusk October 1-February 28
The facility is exclusively for the use of skateboarders and in-line skaters. NO BICYCLES ARE PERMITTED! Participants are encouraged to wear protective safety equipment.

SKATE PARK WARNING & SAFETY RULES
*CAUTION Inline skating and skateboarding are high risk recreational activities with inherent risks of serious injury.
*Skate Park CLOSED during inclement weather and/or when equipment is damaged or wet.
* Contact the Park District if equipment is damaged. (630.968.6400)
* The skateboarding area is unsupervised and participants skate at their own risk.
* It is strongly recommended that proper protective equipment such as helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, etc. be used during skating activities.
*No personally owned ramps, boxes or other devices may be brought into the facility.
*Bicycles, scooters and persons not skating are prohibited from using the skating structures.
* No food, beverages, gum or smoking within the skate park.
*Glass objects and containers are not allowed in the skating area.
* Please be courteous of other skaters.
*In the event of an emergency, dial 911 or seek assistance at the Sportsplex front desk.
